Okay, so here we are on day 87 in Ethiopia. When we arrived here on January 14th, we never imagined we would have been here this long. We have gone through so many ups and downs. There have been times we have been so scared, and times when we have been absolutely joyful. There is so much I could say about our experience here in Addis Ababa, but I’ll save that for later. For now, we just want to praise God for giving us this special time with our babies, and for finally making the way for us to go home.
I can’t even tell you how excited we are about being home. There are about a million and one things we are looking forward to, but most of all, we are just happy that Alex & Eliana are finally forever ours, and nothing can separate us ever again. They are two amazing little babies who bring us so much joy.
Back in June, I had a dream that our agency called us with a referral for boy and girl twins and they were 10 months old in my dream. I remember thinking, “Oh Lord, please don’t let them be 10 months old when we get them!” (they were 2 ½ months old at the time of our referral) Well, on our first full day back in the United States, our babies will be exactly 10 months old. Wow. I don’t think God intended for all the difficulties to happen in our case, but no matter what, He has redeemed every heart ache and road block, and for that we are so, so thankful.
So, tomorrow, at about 10:30 in the morning, as our plane lands in Chicago, IL, our Alex & Eliana will officially be American citizens. What a miracle. And to celebrate our departure from Ethiopia, we leave you with our one and only musings from Ethiopia.
Yep. I am already crying. What a mess I will be!
